David Masson is a partner in Salans' Paris office and heads the Paris IPTC group. He is also the head of Salans' Global IPTC Group. David specialises in Intellectual Property Law and practices in the areas of new technologies and communication.  His practice largely consists of providing advice and litigation on Intellectual Property law and Information Technology law regarding acquisition, enhancement and exploitation, as well as defending such rights, whether through occasional acts or complex transactions.

David carries out both the civil and criminal proceedings for infringement of Intellectual Property rights including patents. His expertise covers the fields of media, advertising, publishing, audiovisual, entertainment, music and matters concerning sponsorship as well as Information Technology including data protection.

Among other independent market recommendations, Chambers Global 2011 noted him for "handling matters efficiently and with an undeniable grasp of the intricacies of the situation."

 

Recent Experience:

  • Representing an international group specialised in producing and commercialising natural ingredients, as a claimant in a patent infringement case before the Paris District Court
  • Advising the leader company in the worldwide orthopaedic medical technology in various renegotiations of existing license agreements or negotiation of forthcoming license agreements in the field of medical devices
  • Representing a specialist in internet filter tools before the Paris Court of Appeal after being sentenced with respect to a dispute concerning the extraction of a database used by a leading telecommunications operators
  • Representing a mobile phone technology provider in connection with pre litigation actions and proceedings in order to defend its patents
  • Advising and representing clients in the context of several procedures before the Court of First Instance and the Court of Justice of the European Communities with respect to the registration of Community trademarks
  • Assisting and advising a provider of software solutions and associated services in the context of matters following the termination of a contract with a mobile phone operator
  • Representing a leading French perfume manufacturer in a series of civil and criminal intellectual property rights infringement proceedings (trademark, design and copyright) concerning counterfeits
