Technology (IT, Privacy & E-Commerce)

Our IPT&C practice group has over 30 years of experience advising on all aspects of the law relating to information technology, privacy and data protection, the Internet and e-commerce.

Our lawyers have in-depth knowledge of the IT business sector as well as of the specific requirements of those involved, which allows us to provide a full range of legal services to IT providers and users.  This includes work in relation to corporate, financing, anti-trust, commercial, intellectual property and cyber-liability matters.

Our Approach

Our numerous contacts in private equity firms often facilitate financing, particularly for start-up companies, and we have advised on complex joint ventures for the exploitation of technology.

Our firm’s global reach and full service practice enable us to deliver cost-effective advice on cross-border transactions and arrangements and to assist international technology businesses to organise their corporate structures, and the provision of their services and licences to customers, in a tax-efficient manner.

Where disputes arise, our extensive experience in IP and IT related litigation (especially concerning patent and copyright infringement, misuse of trade secrets, cyber liability, and breach of contract) enables us not only to defend our clients' interests effectively, it also enables us to take a commercial approach and know when to settle disputes and achieve practical solutions for all parties concerned.

In the current economic climate, we are involved in reviewing our clients’ contracts and contingency planning, advising where a supplier may be at risk or where there is potential for cost-saving.
