Denis Voevodin is a partner in Salans' Moscow office. He joined the firm in July 2001, and is head of the Russian Trademark/IP Practice.

Denis has advised clients on a wide range of legal issues related to IP matters in the Russian Federation and CIS countries. In particular, he has been involved in numerous trademark and copyright litigation matters as well as anti-counterfeit activity. He actively participates in due diligence projects handled by the firm, assisting on matters related to copyright, trademark and patents rights. Denis Voevodin has been actively developing a trademark practice in Russia, speaking frequently at international conferences.

Chambers Europe 2010 ranks Denis in the 1st tier in Intellectual Property, saying "Denis Voevodin 'gets ten out of ten' for his IP expertise, according to sources."   PLC Which Lawyer?, Legal 500 and European Legal Experts recognise him as a leading expert in Intellectual Property in Russia.  The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers ranks Denis as a leading expert in trademark matters.

Denis Voevodin is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), International Trademark Association (INTA), MARQUES and other professional organisations.

Recent Experience:

  • Successfully representing a major automotive company in defending trademark rights against an unauthorised dealer in a first ever heard case in the court practice - the unauthorised dealer in its defense attempted to rely on the "trademark rights exhaustion doctrine", which was successfully refuted
  • Successfully defending a major soft drink producer in an infringement case brought by a local company at three successive court instances
  • Successfully representing US major publishing title in court against a local publisher infringing the client's trademark rights - the Russian company was ordered to stop publishing its counterfeit edition
  • Successfully representing a major Western razor and battery manufacturer in a case against a local cybersquatter regarding illegal use and registration of the client's domain name
  • Successfully defending a local beer manufacturer in an infringement case brought by a major multinational beer manufacturer
