Dr. Bernd-Uwe Stucken is the managing partner of Salans' Shanghai office. He has lived and worked in China for over 20 years and has extensive experience advising on foreign direct investment (FDI), mergers and acquisitions and enterprise restructuring including strategic business and tax aspects.

Bernd is a former chairman of the Shanghai chapter of the German Chamber of Commerce and Honorary Representative of the City of Hamburg in Shanghai. He is a founding member and director of the Asia Transformation and Turnaround Association (ATTA).

Recent Experience:

  • Advising and coordinating multiple acquisitions and joint ventures of German market leaders in the manufacturing industries as part of a rapid and massive market entry strategy
  • Advising on multiple parallel enterprise acquisitions of a leading information service provider seeking to achieve a market leader position in China
  • Establishment of a major joint venture company of a European blue chip in the mining industry in North China
  • Establishment of an automobile dealership network for a leading European automobile dealer
  • Establishment of the first non-captive wholly foreign owned leasing company in China
  • Advising co-investment of investment bank in Asian chip manufacturer with operational headquarters in Hong Kong and a production in China
  • Advising on one of the first acquisitions of a minority share in a listed PRC company in the food industry
  • Acquisition of a participation in a wholly foreign owned bank, subsequent capital increase and support in obtaining RMB license
  • Establishment of the first European wholly foreign owned car financing company in China
