Markian B.  Silecky

Markian B. Silecky is a partner in Salans' Kyiv and New York offices. He specialises in general corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, international transactions, real estate and environmental law.

Before joining Salans, Markian was the principal of an international law firm which he founded in 1988. He has been practicing in Ukraine since 1992 and will continue working in both Salans' Kyiv and New York offices. He has worked with various Ukrainian State Agencies, including the Ministry of Transport, State Property Fund, Ministry of Environment and the Cabinet of Ministers, and has also represented the Embassy of the United States, the Canadian Embassy, and various diplomats with regard to their activities in Ukraine.

Recent Experience:

• Advising an international developer of internet gaming technologies with regard to the development and USD 100 million licensing of a MMORPG (Massive Multi-Player Online Role Playing Game)
• Advising a multinational grain trading company with regard to its USD 30 million joint venture investment into a grain terminal in Ukraine
• Advising an international real estate developer on a USD 200 million land acquisition and development
  Representing a US-based investment fund in its acquisitions and divestitures in numerous Ukrainian companies
• Representing both Ukrainian and U.S. entities with regard to the licensing and distribution of pharmaceuticals
• Providing ongoing representation of an international transport agency with its Ukrainian operations and regulatory issues
• Advising Norwegian and Canadian entities on their acquisition of oil and gas exploration and production licenses
• Representing a major Ukrainian software developer in connection with its expansion into foreign markets
• Acting as counsel for a foreign underwriter in an IPO of a Ukrainian company on the London Stock Exchange
• Representing private investors in their sales of interests in Ukrainian companies to international investors
• Advising a western media company on its acquisition of interests in Ukrainian competitors and as to regulatory and antimonopoly issues
