Dr. Dietmar Schulz, LL.M is partner in the area of banking, restructuring and insolvency. Dietmar focuses on all aspects of both financial and corporate restructuring as well as on all aspects of insolvency matters and distressed debt. Dietmar frequently advises creditors, debtors and corporations; his clients include financial institutions, Saving Banks and Landesbanks, distressed investors, asset managers and trustees. His work includes cross-border financial restructurings, distressed M&A, restructuring of credit risk and NPL. Dietmar further advises clients in banking compliance matters.

Before joining Salans, Dietmar worked in London and Munich with international law firms in the areas of financial restructuring, NPL and insolvency. He qualified in 1999 and started his career with an insolvency boutique law firm.

Dietmar is author of various articles on insolvency matters, and he is frequently quoted in the media as expert in his area. By JUVE Handbook Dietmar is quoted as “Frequently recommended lawyer” on restructuring/insolvency matters since 2008/2009.

  • Advising creditors on the restructuring and realisation of its German loan portfolio
  • Advising a trustee on its acquisition of shares in a plc.
  • Advising lenders and investors on cross-border insolvency issues, including debt-to-equity structures
  • Representing Sparkassen on various financial and restructuring matters
  • Representing Landesbanken on refinancing distressed investments
  • Advising a distressed investor on its envisaged investment in a media group
  • Advising financial institutions on acquiring or restructuring of loan portfolios/NPL
