Evan Z. Lazar is Co-Chairman of Salans' Global Real Estate Group.
Evan is widely recognized as the leading real estate and property finance lawyer in Central and Eastern Europe. His extensive experience in all areas of cross-border property and finance transactions has placed him in the forefront of many of the region's most important property and finance matters, including major retail, hotel, office, logistic and residential developments, financings and institutional investments.
Prior to joining Salans, Evan was the founder of the Central European Real Estate Practice at Weil, Gotshal & Manges and later Co-Chairman of their European Property and Finance Group. Before moving to Europe in 1993, Evan was a real estate lawyer in Philadelphia with Wolf, Block, Schorr & Solis-Cohen LLP.
Chambers Europe rates Evan as the top real estate lawyer in the entire CEE region and uniquely as a "Star Performer" and "the god of real estate". Chambers recognized Evan as a well-established figure on the scene and "the man to see for top-notch property advice". He was also noted for his "clear regional view - he sees the big picture, not just one or two markets." Evan is also included in Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Real Estate Lawyers, and European Counsel 3000 notes that in the area of real estate law, Mr. Lazar has the "leading reputation throughout Eastern Europe".
Evan acts for many leading institutional clients, including AIG/Lincoln, GE Real Estate, Heitman International, Hypo Real Estate Bank International and ORCO Property Group. He is in the top tier group of attorneys specialising in cross-border and emerging markets property and finance matters.
