Mikhail Ivanov is a partner in Salans' St. Petersburg office and head of Russian Litigation/Arbitration practice. He specialises in litigation, arbitration, corporate law, securities law, and mergers and acquisitions, particularly in emerging markets in the CIS and in Central and Eastern Europe. He is also part of the firm's German practice.

Mikhail advises clients on a wide range of legal matters involving investment in the Russian Federation, specialising in the resolution of disputes between foreign investors and major Russian companies, in particular before Russian commercial and general courts. He also participates in international commercial arbitration.

Chambers Europe and Legal 500 annually rank Mikhail among the leading experts in dispute resolution in Russia.

Recent Experience:

  • Representing a major Russian construction company in a series of lawsuits against Russian railroads under construction contracts
  • Advising a major US company on distributorship, trademark license and retail store agreements with Russian companies
  • Advising a Russian car manufacturer on the negotiation and implementation of a co-operation program with a major Korean company, including technical cooperation, transfer of know-how, trademark and other IP rights licenses
  • Representing a major Russian investment group in a number of court proceedings in disputes over securities
  • Representing a US company before Russian commercial courts in a dispute related to violation of trademarks rights by a Russian media company
  • Representing a major US company before Russian commercial courts in a dispute over a domain name and related trademark rights
  • Representing a major European car producer before the Russian court in a dispute related to violation of trademark rights
