Claudia Cantarella is a partner and co-chair of the Intellectual Property Practice of Salans in New York. Claudia specialises in intellectual property and information technology matters, including intellectual property transactions, trademark, patent and copyright licensing, software and technology agreements, data and content licenses, e-commerce counselling, worldwide trademark branding strategies, and enforcement of intellectual property rights. In addition, she regularly advises clients on intellectual property aspects of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and securitisation, as well as publicity and privacy rights, data protection, domain name proceedings and other internet-related issues.
Claudia is also a Legal Consultant to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), where her work includes the drafting of national legislation for conservation, utilisation and access to genetic resources and seed certification. Her most recent FAO missions for Iraq, Syria and Seychelles resulted in implementation of national legislation by the respective country governments.
Claudia was named a Super Lawyer in the 2006 New York Super Lawyers Manhattan Edition. She is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), having served on INTA committees and as a speaker and moderator at INTA Annual Meetings. Claudia recently completed a Reed Logic Video Leadership Seminar on "Worldwide Trademark Acquisition and Protection Strategies" available on DVD. She also speaks regularly on intellectual property topics, and her articles have appeared in the National Law Journal and Managing Intellectual Property. Claudia is a Board Member of EduSeed, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education among historically disadvantaged communities.
