Michael Bronstein, a Partner in the London office and Head of the London Employment Department, specialises in all areas of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious, including business immigration issues.
He has over 25 years’ experience in advising employers and employees on all aspects of employment law, including employment contracts and service agreements, restrictive covenants, grievance and disciplinary procedures and equal opportunities policies. He conducts and advises on internal disciplinary hearings and appeals, and proceedings in the Employment Tribunal and the High Court in relation to employment matters. Michael also regularly advises on the employment aspects of business and company sales and acquisitions, including in particular the impact of the TUPE Regulations. He is an established expert in the field of employee competition issues, regularly acting in high value cases in the High Court involving urgent applications for injunctions and substantial damages claims.
He is a regular speaker on employment law issues at conferences and seminars and writes articles for publication in both legal and human resources periodicals. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association, the Industrial law Society and the Institute of Directors.
He is recommended as an endorsed lawyer in PLC Which Lawyer for Labour and Employee Benefits 2011 and has been described in Legal 500 as “first rate … highly experienced and tenacious”.

Leading the successful defence of a High Court breach of contract claim brought by the former Chief Economist of one of the world’s largest mining companies for failure to pay a contractual bonus during the ‘credit crunch’. Reported at: [2010] All ER (D) 235 and [2010] I.R.L.R. 976

Acted for a leading inter-dealer broker in resisting multi-million dollar claims for damages by former employees, leading to a comprehensive settlement. In the course of this matter, won an appeal to the Employment Appeal Tribunal for a stay of Tribunal proceedings pending the determination of action taken in the High Court. Reported at UKEAT 0321/08

Won an urgent application at short notice to discharge an interim injunction restraining an employee from commencing new employment with a client, allegedly acting in breach of post-termination restrictions using confidential information acquired during his previous employment. Advising the overseas purchaser of a major UK steel plant (consideration in excess of US$465 million) on complex employment and pensions issues, involving the management of relation with trades unions and the application of TUPE and its potential impact on the parties’ pension liabilities.
