Bálint Bassola, LL.M. (College of Europe – Bruges) is a contractor of Salans’ Budapest office through his law firm in cooperation with Kővári Tercsák Salans Attorneys. He focuses primarily on EU and Hungarian competition law and corporate law. Bálint was admitted to practice as a member of the Budapest Bar in March 2010. Before practicing as an attorney at Salans, Bálint was a Case Officer at the Hungarian Competition Authority where he conducted competition supervision proceedings under both EU and Hungarian competition law.

Bálint is the author of numerous articles in the area of EU and Hungarian competition law. He regularly gives lectures at bilateral chambers of commerce and at universities.

Recent Experience:

  • Advising two major telecommunication companies on competition law requirements in connection with a possible joint venture offering access to broadband networks
  • Representing a company offering value assessment services in a competition supervision proceedings regarding suspicion of involvement in a cartel before the Hungarian Competition Authority: the proceedings were terminated in the investigation phase
  • Representing a multinational manufacturing company in competition supervision proceedings regarding suspicion of abuse of a dominant position before the Hungarian Competition Authority: the proceedings were terminated in the investigation phase
