We are very pleased to announce that, following two days of elections, Paris Partner Jean-Louis Magnier has been elected to the Paris Bar Council for a 3 year term, starting on January 1, 2010. This is the first time Salans is represented on this highly prestigious and powerful body. The elections were very competitive and Jean-Louis came in 6th position of the 12 seats, with 42 candidates running.
The Paris Bar Council is a powerful body. It is heavily involved in the Paris legal market and plays a prominent role in influencing and shaping local regulation and professional rules. We are also pleased to inform that three other representatives from international firms have been elected (from Skadden, Orrick and Allen and Overy) and this is the first time that international firms will be so successfully represented on the Council.
