Salans Recruits Restructuring and Insolvency Heavyweight for London Office

26 November 2009

Salans today announces that Bodo Schaar is joining the firm as a partner in its London office as part of its Restructuring, Reorganisation and Insolvency (“RRI”) team. Bodo joins the firm as a lateral hire from Simmons and Simmons.

Bodo’s practice focuses particularly on financial restructuring and insolvency as well as banking and capital markets. Being dual-qualified in both Germany and England, as well as having worked in both countries means that he will be able to leverage from Salans’ extensive RRI capabilities worldwide. Bodo will form a crucial part of Salans’ Global RRI group and of its German International Practice Group which encompasses a network of German-speaking lawyers and tax advisers across 15 of its 21 offices.

London Office Managing Partner at Salans, Howard Cohen, comments, “Bodo’s appointment comes during a growth phase of the RRI team here in London, the team having worked on some of the most high-profile cases in the UK this year.

“His experience in the distressed situations arena and his nexus with the German market through both client work and qualification complements our own strength in restructurings in Germany, which is one of the strongest amongst international law firms.”

Bodo Schaar adds, “I am very much looking forward to joining Salans with its truly international focus. The strength of its restructuring team in the UK, Germany and worldwide, as well as its unique footprint across CEE and the CIS makes it an ideal place for both myself and much of my client base.”
