Salans Boosts German Employment Practice

30 November 2009

International law firm Salans has set the course for further growth in Germany by boosting its employment practice. Effective 1 December, a team of eight specialist lawyers from Beiten Burkhardt, led by partner Hendrik Muschal, will join the firm. He is accompanied by the partners Utz Andelewski, Marcus Longino and Carsten Brachmann as well as four associates. The additions mean a significant strengthening of both the well-established Berlin office as well as the firm’s advisory practice in the areas of employment, corporate/M&A, restructuring, corporate finance and tax.

“We have significantly increased our capability to provide seamless advice on all aspects of employment law arising out of complex corporate and restructuring transactions,” comments Andreas Ziegenhagen, Managing Partner for Salans Germany.  He continues, “We are therefore able to meet the growing demand for employment-related advice in direct response to the global economic crisis. With these new hires, we also take a significant step forward in further developing our German practice overall, and a full-service offering to clients.”

Hendrik Muschal, Carsten Brachmann and Utz Andelewski have been with Beiten Burkhardt as partners since 2002. Marcus Longino joined the team in 2004. Muschal and Brachmann had already worked together previously at Muschal & Wiese, a German employment law boutique.

The new partner team is joined by associates Simon Boehnke, Markus Diepold, Matthias Stelzer and Veit Vossberg.

The team will primarily advise listed companies in all aspects of individual and collective employment law. They also specialise in advising on cross-border transactions relating to Russia, Ukraine and China, all strongholds of Salans and a further complement to the firm worldwide.

Salans in Germany now has over 65 lawyers across Berlin and Frankfurt, of which 21 are partners (Berlin: 18; Frankfurt: 3). Salans has 750 lawyers worldwide, of which 186 are partners, globally operating across 21 offices combining a unique combination of key financial centres and emerging market hubs.
