As a result of Salans’ efforts, the Paris Court of Appeal entered a judgment on September 17 accepting all of the claims made by Salans' client, the Russian Central Bank (RCB). This decision is particularly important as it resulted in the release of the attachments (EUR 250 million) carried out by the Swiss company Noga against the RCB’s financial assets. It is a decision which confirms the particular status of central banks in the Paris financial community.
All of the RCB’s claims were accepted by the Court of Appeal. Other than the legal difficulties of the dispute for which no case law existed, the case was particularly sensitive as it involved a central bank.
The Russian Central Bank was advised and defended by Salans (Pascale Poupelin, Paris Partner, Catherine Joffroy, Paris Of Counsel, and Richard Marty, Paris Of Counsel).
