Salans today announces that Dr Bernd Stucken, Managing Partner of the firm's Shanghai office, has now been appointed to lead the firm's overall Greater China practice, which takes in Beijing and Hong Kong.
Supported by Matthias Mueller (Managing Partner of the Beijing office), Stucken will take responsibility for integrating the three offices to operate as one for its client base, ensure flexible resourcing so as to service client needs where they arise in the region, practice and sector development as well as overall performance.
Dariusz Oleszczuk, Global Managing Partner, added, "The China market is of strategic importance to the firm and therefore it is anticipated that Bernd will work closely with the office managing partners and global practice group leaders worldwide in developing and expanding our business in this market."
The news comes after new lateral hire Benny Pang joined the Hong Kong practice from Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker. With 21 offices worldwide and over 750 lawyers globally operating from a combination of key financial centres and emerging market hubs, Salans is one of a small group of international law firms with a presence in the three key markets of Greater China.
