The international law firm Salans has merged its worldwide German-language advisory
services and launches the German International Practice Group. The Group encompasses a close
network of Salans' German-speaking lawyers and tax advisers from 12 nations providing seamless
services to companies from German-speaking countries in key markets throughout Europe, the CIS
and in Asia.
"Despite growing internationalisation of the economy we experience a high demand for
integrated German-speaking advice in many of our locations," states Johannes Jonas, a partner of
the firm in Paris and one of the initiators of the German International Practice Group. "Language
skills are one factor, but what is even more important is that many German companies, especially
medium-sized companies investing abroad, look for advisers who know their business practice and
their culture, and who can effectively build a bridge from that starting point into local markets.
We are one of the few international law firms which can offer this kind of service." Through this
approach, Salans now counts Bertelsmann and Bayer among its clients in Paris.
The German International Practice Group is composed of 90 German and German-speaking
advisers outside Germany, and another 60 in the German offices in Berlin and Frankfurt.
Geographically, the firm has one of the largest networks of German-speaking lawyers worldwide: at
15 of the 21 Salans offices, teams whose members are either native speakers or business fluent in
German advise clients. An additional six offices provide advice under the leadership of German
partners.
During the last 20 years, Salans has
increased its services for German-speaking clients at many of its locations. In April 2009,
Krzystzof Sajewski joined the team of 17 German-speaking lawyers in the Warsaw office as a partner,
together with two associates. Additional hiring at other locations is planned.
