German International Practice Group

In order to serve the global needs of Salans’ clients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, our German-speaking lawyers and tax advisers throughout the firm are integrated in our German International Practice Group (GIPG). We attend to the particular need for German-language advice in international markets by setting up German-speaking teams in almost all of our offices. The members of the GIPG have a united purpose - they speak our clients’ language and also know their business practices and culture. As a result, they effectively build bridges into local markets.
Our Approach
The GIPG spans 16 offices and comprises over 90 German-speaking lawyers located outside of Germany as well as a further 60 lawyers based in our Berlin and Frankfurt offices. An additional six of our offices offer advice in the German language, supported by partners in other offices.
The teams within the GIPG are led by German-qualified lawyers, native speakers who have lived and worked for many years in the local markets, or by partners who have acquired advanced German linguistic skills as a result of studying or working in German-speaking countries. They are as familiar with German legal systems as with the business customs and cultures within German-speaking countries, as well as within the local markets in which Salans' clients invest.
In addition to our Core German Practice in our Berlin and Frankfurt offices, Salans provides advice in German in the following jurisdictions:
