Telecommunications Experience

• Advising a large global mobile phone operator in connection with a copyright infringement case and the annulment of a copyright assignment concerning its signature ring tone;
• Advising a leading French IT service provider in a dispute that arose in connection with a sub-contract for the IT outsourcing of a mobile phone operator;
• Advising STET International (a subsidiary of Telecom Italia) on its proposed acquisition of a controlling interest in CD-Telekomunikace s.r.o., a company involved in the establishment and operation of a non-public telecommunications network on land owned by Czech railways;
• Advising TeleDanmark A/S on a bid to acquire 27% equity interest in Czech Telekom;
• Advising Telesystem International Wireless on deals worth over EUR 825 million including the re-financing of its Czech subsidiary following a series of share acquisitions consolidating ownership of its Romanian subsidiary, the leading GSM operator MobiFon S.A.;
• Advising Cable & Wireless on regulatory, corporate, labour and tax matters in France and French territories;
• Advising Vivendi Universal on the largest current foreign investment project in Poland: the EUR 59 million restructuring of the fixed-line assets of Elektrim Telekomunikacja and acquisition of the right to a majority stake in Elektrim Telekomunikacja;
• Advising Time Warner on a bid for the first Polish private national broadcasting licence;
• Advising Verizon (formerly GTE) on the negotiation of management and operations agreements in connection with its acquisition, within a consortium led by OTE, of a majority stake in RomTelecom;
• Advising SBC Communications on a bid to acquire a 35% equity ownership in RomTelecom, the Romanian telephone company, by direct negotiations with the Romanian State Ownership Fund;
• Advising EBRD on debt and equity financing of a Moscow GSM network;
• Advising Nokia on investment projects and operations in Russia;
• Advising Telenor A.S. (a Norwegian telecommunications group) on a bid in a consortium with VSŽ, Slovakia's largest steel producer, to acquire a GSM mobile telephony license in Slovakia;
• Advising Koc and Sabanci (two of Turkey's largest conglomerates) on Turkish regulatory and business issues in connection with the privatisation of Turk Telekom;
• Advising Wavecrest (a global wholesale and retail voice services provider) on financings, acquisitions, contracts with suppliers and customers, international operations and networks, and dispute settlement;
• Advising Sputnik Funds on acquisition of a stake in Kievstar, a GSM operator; and,
• Advising a communications satellite operator on structuring and implementation of an international satellite joint venture with another satellite operator, an investor group, and providers of intellectual property.
