Ship Finance

Our client base includes banks, financial institutions, ship managers, and shipbrokers all active in the financing of vessel acquisition. A sample of work we have undertaken in this area includes:

• Advising a European bank in structuring and documenting its security requirements for the financing of ship construction;
• Representing a marine company in connection with a tender held by the Secretariat for Defence Industries for the manufacture and maintenance of eight corvettes for the Turkish Naval Forces;
• Representing U.N. Ro-Ro, one of the leading ro-ro carriers (roll-on/roll-off short sea shipping transport business) in its majority stake sale to an international financial institution. The buyer acquired 97.6% of shares, owning the fourth largest marine fleet in the world. This was the largest sponsor-backed deal ever conducted in Turkey;
• Representing the largest Russian operator of passenger cruise vessels (and third largest in the world) in connection with establishing a joint venture to purchase and refurbish a vessel; and,
• Advising ship-owners in their borrowing transactions with major ship lending banks (both asset finance and leasing) and sale and charter-back in the UK in Norway and in Germany with the KG system.
