• issues related to the maritime transportation of hydrocarbons.

Our experience includes pioneering work in the planning, construction, and operation of the CPC pipeline in the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan.

Representative Transportation Experience

• Acting as counsel to an international consortium in the planning, regulation, construction and operation of the CPC main export pipeline from Kazakhstan to the Black Sea coast of Russia;
• Representing the operators of the Karachaganak project in Kazakhstan in the planning, regulation, and construction of a spur pipeline to connect to the CPC main export pipeline;
• Advising a member of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline consortium on legal issues in Azerbaijan;
• Representing a Japanese energy consortium in the negotiation of LNG transportation contracts in the Indonesia trade;
• Representing an international petroleum company in connection with the conversion of the ATAS refinery into a terminal and the related petroleum law issues;
• Representing the Turkmenistan government in connection with its agreement with a Turkish state-owned gas company regarding a proposed international gas pipeline;
• Advising a Russian industrial group in the acquisition of a stake in the Batumi oil terminal in Georgia;
• Advising clients in relation to the transport, registration, and reflagging of vessels and drilling rigs in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan;
• Advising in relation to three TPA proceedings relating to access to the Spanish gas transport and distribution system; and,
• Advising the sponsor of a joint venture consortium of Swiss and Chinese companies on a project finance of USD 250 million for the refurbishment of refineries and pipelines in northern Iran from Tehran to Tabriz.
