Our lawyers have a strong expertise in the trading of oil products globally on behalf of major international institutions. We actively represent banks, investment funds and other financial institutions, including the EBRD, OPIC, the U.S. EX-IM Bank and the IFC, in the financing of E&P activities and the purchase and pledge of assets, infrastructure and subsoil interests.
Our experience encompasses project finance, pre-export finance, loan and security documentation, debt finance and restructuring, intra-company loans and institutional finance, including the registration and enforcement of security interests.
Representative Finance Experience

Advising a US utility in the structuring of a USD 2.5 billion stranded cost bond financing (including legislative, lobbying and structured finance transactional matters);

Advising a joint venture between leading Turkish companies on its USD 2.04 billion privatisation tender in acquiring 51% of a major petrochemical company in Turkey;

Acting as counsel to an international investment bank in connection with a state holding company in the Ukrainian nuclear power sector's insurance of USD 300 million in Eurobonds to finance the Ukrainian energy sector;

Advising the Government of Yamal Nenets Autonomous Okrug (a region with some of the largest natural gas reserves in Russia) on a number of financings, including arrangement of a sub-participated credit facility and the issuance of Eurobonds;

Advising as counsel to the sponsor of a USD 250 million project finance for the refurbishment of refineries and pipelines in the Caspian region;

Advising in relation to the negotiation of a financial facility for refinancing the company's debt and financing two new hydroelectric power plants in Spain;

Advising financial institutions in the financing of an international electrical power company in Kazakhstan and the subsequent on-lending to its affiliates;

Acting on pre-finance facilities made available by a syndicate of lenders to state-owned oil companies in Kazakhstan, Congo, Iran, Qatar, and Ghana; and,

Advising an international bank in respect of a USD 600 million oil pre-finance facility extended to KazMunaiGaz E&P and assisting client with syndication of facility; it was the largest deal of its kind in Kazakhstan's history.
